Issue Position

I am a believer in the US Constitution. In particular, the 1st and 14th amendments. Secular marriages between consenting adults regardless of gender (or sexual orientation) should be legal. If any church is so narrow minded that they do not want to recognize the secular marriage, then that is their right under the first amendment. To deny consenting adults equal protection under the law by denying them the possibility to marry is as wrong now as it was during the "Loving v. Virginia" case of 1967 (inter-racial marriage). By the way, that was a 9-0 Supreme Court decision in favor of Mr. & Mrs. Loving.
