Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today released the following statement after the House passed a series of fixes to the Senate health care reform bill. The fixes now head to the President's desk for signature.
"On Sunday, we passed the Senate health care reform bill which went a long way toward reducing costs and premiums, strengthening Medicare, covering the uninsured, and requiring insurance companies to play by the rules. The series of fixes passed tonight will make that bill even stronger. First and foremost, it ensures middle class families will not have their health care benefits taxed. It removes the special deals for states like Nebraska which I have always opposed. And it fully closes the Medicare Part D doughnut hole so all of our seniors can afford their prescription drugs. In total, the revised health care bill will have great benefits for my constituents and the nation."
