Only One Way To Fix Dems' Job-Killing Takeover Of Health Care: Repeal And Replace

Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the following statement after House Democrats voted to complete their massive government takeover of health care:

"Americans are asking, "where are the jobs?' but Democrats remain focused on this job-killing government takeover of health care. Over the objection of the American people, President Obama and Democrats in Washington have forced through an unpopular, unaffordable bill that is propped up by backroom deals and phony accounting gimmicks. The mistakes Democrats have made will require correcting sooner rather than later -- with new legislation, new regulations, and new spending -- but there's only one way to truly undo the damage this law will do to our economy and our freedoms: repeal and replace. Then we can start fresh on reforms focused first on lowering costs for families and small businesses.

"Last week, more than 130 economists sent a letter to President Obama and Congress warning that this government takeover of health care would cost America jobs. Sadly, we're already seeing evidence that those economists were right. When are we going to address the number one issue on the minds of our fellow citizens? When are we going to focus on the economy and getting people back to work, instead of all of the job-killing policies that we're seeing move through this Congress? When are we going to begin to listen once again to the American people who sent us here to do their work? Because the American people are asking "where are the jobs?'"
