Hodes, Shea-porter Disaster Declaration Request Granted By President

Statement

Date: March 29, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Today, President Obama made a disaster declaration for storm battered communities across New Hampshire in the wake of this winter's wind storm. This comes in response to a letter written by both Congressman Paul Hodes and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter urging the President to make such a designation.

"These storms left hundreds of thousands of Granite State families and small businesses reeling from huge damage bills," said Hodes. "I wish to thank Governor Lynch for his response from the onset of this storm, and President Obama who made right decision in making this disaster declaration. Thankfully, for some of our worst hit communities, help is on the way."

"Last month's storm left hundreds of thousands of people without power and negatively impacted our local communities," said Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter. "This Disaster Declaration will provide important resources to the communities most affected by the storm."
