Vitter Responds to President's Endorsement of Reconciliation Strategy

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. David Vitter today issued the following statement in response to President Obama's announcement that his administration will pursue a partisan reconciliation strategy for passing government-run health care legislation through Congress:

"Well, the president talked a great deal about bipartisanship during the health care summit last week, but it's now clear that was just to distract attention away from his purely partisan strategy -- forcing Obamacare down our throats using the unprecedented reconciliation process," said Vitter. "No amount of speeches and media events can hide the fact that President Obama and his liberal congressional allies are simply refusing to listen to the American people, who have made it abundantly clear that they don't want the federal government to take over our health care system."
