Issues: Conservative

According to National Journal, a Washington, DC-based government news magazine, Congressman Jo Bonner has been scored as the most conservative among the seven members of Alabama's congressional delegation, for U.S. House votes cast during 2009.

National Journal calculated each Member of Congress's voting record on "key economic, social, and foreign policy issues during 2009."

Bonner's conservative voting score of 83.7 was the highest among the Alabama congressional delegation for last year.

Furthermore, Rep. Bonner was tied for fifth most conservative among the 22 senior House Republicans who serve as committee Ranking Members.

"While the last year has been a very partisan one in Congress, I believe my voting record for real market-based health care reform without more government intrusion, my support of alternative energy research and more drilling at home without more taxes, and my opposition to uncontrolled government spending are right in line with the views of the people of South Alabama," Congressman Bonner said.
