Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after the state Legislature passed legislation to help eliminate the barriers preventing Nevada from competing for federal Race to the Top funding.
"By making this important fix the first thing they passed during the special session, the Legislature made it clear that there is no time to waste when it comes to positioning Nevada to compete for this urgently-needed funding. I extend my sincere appreciation to the entire Legislature for taking swift action on behalf of Nevada students. I am hopeful that the governor will avoid playing politics with this important issue and waste no time in signing this legislation into law."
