Hodes Receives Briefing At Storm Center In Concord

Press Release

Date: Feb. 27, 2010
Location: Concord, NH

This morning, Paul Hodes met with officials at the Emergency Operations Center in Concord and was briefed on the deployment of emergency services and the ongoing work crews are doing to restore power and provide assistance to Granite State families.

"This morning's news from Candia is heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayer are with the family and friends of those who died," said Hodes. "This was a very serious storm, and it will take some time for our communities to return to normalcy. But from what I've seen today, New Hampshire's first responders are doing incredible work under less than ideal conditions. Again, if you or anyone you know needs assistance, I urge you to contact 211 for services immediately."

Hodes met with State Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Chris Pope and other officials at the Emergency Operations Center in Concord. Two people in Candia died overnight from a fire caused by a propane space heater. Overall, the storm has left over a quarter of a million people in New Hampshire without power.
