Kerry Awarded 100% LCV Score for Leadership on Climate Change, Energy

Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.), lead author of the Senate's comprehensive climate change and energy legislation, has received a 100% approval rating from the League of Conservation Voters.

The League's National Environmental Scorecard, released today, evaluates Congress' commitment to reducing global pollution and securing our energy independence.

"The League of Conservation Voters has been at the forefront of the fight for clean air and clean water for decades, and they've been a terrific partner in the biggest environmental fights of my lifetime," said Sen. Kerry. "We're at a big moment in the struggle against global climate change. Passing a comprehensive climate and energy bill through the Senate is critical, and the world is watching to see what we do."

Senator Kerry has long been an environmental leader, fighting to clean up toxic waste sites, keep our air and water clean, protect pristine wilderness areas, and combat the devastating effects of global climate change. After traveling abroad to global climate summits for more than two decades, Kerry was a key player in the political agreement reached last December in Copenhagen. He is currently crafting a "tri-partisan" climate bill with Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)
