Issue Position: Taxes and Economy

Issue Position

The economy continues to be our nation's primary challenge. I stood up against using your money to bail out Wall Street banks and against a Stimulas package that was heavy on pork and short on job creation. More that a year after both have passed, we continue to lose jobs.

Conservative principles will bring about real economic recovery and return America to a path of prosperity. I will continue to vote for legislation that decreases taxes on business, income and capital gains. This will result in small businesses creating more jobs thereby stimulating the economy. It will give taxpayers greater control of their earnings and give them greater incentive to invest in our markets.

As we recover, responsibility and accountability are needed to avoid this kind of crisis again. We must reform both Washington and Wall Street. Please see my ideas for Washington Reform. Also, please see my editorial regarding the bailout votes as it was printed in the Austin American Statesman October 11, 2008.
