Issue Position: Putting People First

Issue Position

As Treasurer, Robin will put the people of Illinois first. Robin will continue to make the office more accessible and responsive to Illinois residents by expanding satellite offices and outreach programs. Robin wants to ensure that the office's resources and programs are accessible to Illinois residents across the state. She will also work with small businesses and entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses and bring more job opportunities to Illinois.

Record of Accomplishment

As early as the 1990s, Robin joined forces with fair housing groups to put an end to predatory lending in Illinois. Today, she continues those efforts through the Treasurer's Office by promoting programs to help homeowners avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes. Robin, together with the State Treasurer, organized foreclosure prevention workshops. The office invited community leaders across the state to attend the workshops, which ultimately provided more than 300 participants with the information they needed to provide sound advice and solutions to members of their communities.

One of Robin's most significant accomplishments was helping to pave the way for the Fresh Food Fund, a $10 million initiative to increase investment in supermarket development in underserved areas. The program helps create new jobs as well as provide healthy choices for Illinois families.

On a personal level, Robin understands the importance of providing families, individuals, and small business owners with the resources they need to deal with a difficult economy. Growing up, her family owned a small business and as a parent who manages her family's finances, she understands some of the challenges Illinois families are facing.
