37th Annual March For Life Reminds Lawmakers Of The Sanctity Of Life

Statement

Date: Feb. 3, 2010
Issues: Abortion

As a life-long advocate of the pro-life movement, I was proud to support the 37th Annual March for Life last month. For almost four decades the march has served as an opportunity for citizens to rally against the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision in defense of every child's right to life. I commend participants for taking a stand for the rights of those who cannot defend themselves.

This year's rally came during a crucial time as Democrats have recently proposed taxpayer funded abortions as part of their plan for a government run healthcare system. With that said, now more than ever, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle need to be reminded of the sanctity of life.

Although the number of participants in the 2010 March for Life exceeded last year's tally, and the number of abortions per year hit an all time low in 2008, the fight is not over until every human being has the right to life. Throughout my congressional career, I have achieved a 100% pro-life voting record, and I will continue to fight for the rights of unborn Americans.

I look forward to the day when every unborn child enjoys equal protection under the law and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I ask that you join me in protecting and preserving these innocent lives.
