Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) today announced the opening of an office in Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to her state headquarters in Greensboro, Senator Hagan now has offices open in Asheville, Raleigh and Charlotte. A fifth office in Greenville will open this year. Shelby-native Freddie Harrill will serve as Senator Hagan's liaison in Western North Carolina, and longtime Asheville resident Hanna Raskin will lead the office's constituent services.

"I am thrilled to announce the opening of my Asheville state office," said Hagan. "I take constituent services very seriously, and I want to be sure the people in Buncombe and the twenty surrounding counties know that my door is always open. Freddie and Hanna are excellent additions to my North Carolina staff and are great resources for North Carolinians in the West."

Harrill, who attended Gaston College and Western Carolina University, has a long history in Western North Carolina. Born in Shelby, he served four terms on the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission and one term on the Cleveland County Water Board. He is the former President of the Lattimore Lions Club and former member of the Shelby Economic Development Commission.

"I am delighted to serve the fine folks in 21 Western North Carolina counties on behalf of Senator Hagan," Harrill said. "I have developed a real feel for the West and have friendships and acquaintances in all these counties. Senator Hagan's Asheville Office will be responsive to all Western North Carolina constituents, and look forward to being Senator Hagan's "eyes and ears' on the ground in the West."

Raskin has chaired the Asheville Transit Commission and has served on the city's Downtown Master Plan implementation and Strive Not to Drive committees.

"I look forward to hearing from my fellow Western North Carolinians and helping to solve problems facing working families, seniors and young people here in the mountains," Raskin said.

The office is located in the Capital Center building at 82 Patton Avenue, Suite 635, in downtown Asheville. Regular office hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Constituents can call the office at 828-257-6510, or send a fax to 828-257-6514.
