Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today released the following statement regarding the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) decision to uphold a protest by BAE Systems contesting the Army's award of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles or FMTV contract to Oshkosh Corporation. Last week, Hare and Congressman Bruce Braley (D-IA) sent a joint letter to the GAO and the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command on behalf of McLaughlin Body in Moline supporting BAE's protest.
"I am extremely pleased with the GAO's decision to uphold BAE's protest of the FMTV contract. GAO's ruling will help guarantee that the contract is properly awarded and that the government does right by our fighting men and women. This decision is good news for the 150 employees at McLaughlin Body and for the warfighter who will now have a chance to get the best trucks possible as this contract is recompeted."
