Providing Quality Education

Dan Hynes is committed to providing a quality education for all students in Illinois. As the son of a Chicago public school teacher and the father of three young boys, Dan knows firsthand the important role our educators play in shaping the minds of our youth. As Comptroller, Dan has consistently and forcefully advocated for the proper funding for our education system. He knows that it is inexcusable that Illinois ranks 49th in the country in funding public education. Not only are we shortchanging our K-12 children, but we are making the dream of earning a higher education degree nearly unmanageable and unaffordable. Right now, we are providing less money for our higher education system than we were six years ago, and that doesn't account for inflation. Dan will make education funding a priority. He has released a comprehensive budget plan that will provide much-needed revenue and allow for serious reinvestment into our education system.
