Dodd Statement on Key Senate Health Care Vote

Statement

Date: Nov. 21, 2009

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) released the following statement tonight following a key vote in the Senate that will lead to full debate of the Senate health care bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"Tonight's vote takes us one step closer to responsible reform that will cut costs, protect patient choice, and guarantee every American access to stable, quality, affordable care," said Dodd. "We will have a full and open debate on this important issue. But tonight it became clear that those who simply want to obstruct any progress and defend the broken status quo simply will not win."

Dodd worked with Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, and members of the Obama Administration to develop a comprehensive bill to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, stable, affordable health care.
