Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, today released the following statement after the House leadership unveiled the Affordable Health Care for America Act, a single health care reform bill blending the three committee-passed versions. The House is expected to vote on it next week.
"This is an excellent piece of legislation. The Affordable Health Care for America Act will drastically reduce the number of uninsured, increase competition and lower costs through a public option, reform the insurance industry so Americans don't see their coverage unfairly denied or dropped, and put more money in our seniors' pockets by closing the Medicare Part D doughnut hole. This bill makes health care more affordable and accessible all while reducing the deficit over the next 10 years. I will support it."
