Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, reports that the City of Miami and Jackson Health Systems will receive federal funds in the just approved House/Senate Conference legislation for the Department of Homeland Security.
Ros-Lehtinen secured the following funds for the City of Miami and Jackson Health Systems:
$600,000 for the City of Miami's stormwater project. This project seeks to implement storm water drainage projects throughout the City of Miami to improve flood conditions and reduce flood damage.
$500,000 for Jackson Health Systems to reinforce and make the appropriate upgrades so that Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH), which is an emergency evacuation shelter, can withstand a category 5 hurricane.
