As Debate Heats Up, Ellsworth Calls For Return To Civility

Location: Washington, DC

In response to recent inflammatory remarks made on the floor of the House of Representatives, Rep. Brad Ellsworth released the following statement calling for a return to civility:

"I am disappointed by some of the behavior we've been seeing on the House floor lately. It is an unwanted distraction from the critical work before us: ensuring all Americans have access to affordable, quality health care, turning our economy around and putting Americans back to work. The truth of the matter is that Republicans don't want Americans to ‘die quickly' any more than Democrats want seniors to ‘drop dead.' These kinds of statements are not only untrue, but they undermine the American people's trust and prevent us from coming together to solve the most pressing challenges of our time. For the sake of our country, both parties must call a truce in this verbal food fight and get back to the real work the people sent us here to do."
