Governor Timothy M. Kaine issued the following statement today on the recommendation of John A. Gibney Jr. by United States Senators Jim Webb and Mark Warner for the judicial vacancy that exists in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia:

"During my 17 years as a practicing lawyer in Richmond, I came to know John Gibney as a lawyer of consummate skill and a person of great integrity. I applaud Senators Webb and Warner for their excellent choice of John from among many highly qualified candidates."
