Stabenow: CARS Program Success Continues, GM To Add Third Shift To Lansing Delta Township Plant

Press Release

Date: Sept. 22, 2009
Location: Washington, D.C.

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) today made the following statement regarding GM's decision to add a third shift at its Lansing Delta Township plant effective April 2010. GM also announced adding a third shift at it Fairfax, KS and Fort Wayne, IN plants as well.

"Today's announcement by General Motors is yet another example of the continued economic success of the CARS program. With the surge in new auto sales, August turned out to be a great month for America's car dealers. Now car lots across America are nearly empty and our automakers are increasing production.

"When I authored this bill in the Senate, I had hoped it would lead to people being called back to work, and that's exactly what continues to happen."
