Today, Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) traveled with President Barack Obama to the General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio. The President, accompanied by Representatives Wilson, Tim Ryan (OH-17), Betty Sutton (OH-13), and Senator Sherrod Brown, was there to discuss the Administration's efforts to bolster the auto industry and the US economy. The Lordstown plant has had a number of positive developments recently; welcoming back 150 workers, getting set for over 1,000 additional workers to return in the next few weeks, and passing the one million mark on production of the popular Chevy Cobalt.
"It's so great to see that the programs we've been working hard on in Washington are having a positive impact back home. Programs like Cash for Clunkers and the Recovery Act are helping to get people back to work right here in Ohio," Wilson said. "It was thrilling to be in Lordstown today and see first hand that we are heading in the right direction."
