Statement On Council Of Economic Advisor's Jobs Report
House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement on the White House Council of Economic Advisor's jobs report:
Beginning in January, House Republicans laid out a serious and substantive agenda that put jobs first, but unfortunately House Democrats, along with the White House, instead took an unfocused, go it alone' approach.
Since President Obama took office, over three million Americans have lost their jobs, including 2.5 million people since the President signed his stimulus bill. The President's agenda has failed to create jobs, a fact that this report cannot dispute.
The American people don't understand why the Administration continues to praise itself while workers keep losing their jobs. At the time of the stimulus bill's passage, the Administration argued that immediate action was needed to stop job losses and get the economy back on track in the short term. That means that by the Administration's own metrics, this spending package has failed. Simply put, this Administration cannot afford to continue to make such costly mistakes that pile debt on our children. Republicans stand ready to work together on common-sense policies that will put Americans back to work.
