Today marks the 8th anniversary of the worst terroristattack ever on our nation, a day where nearly 3,000 innocent Americans losttheir lives. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the victims andthe heroes of 9/11. Their memory indeliblyburns on. We must never forget the lessons of 9/11, that America mustconstantly stay vigilant and active in our fight against Islamic radicals.
Today, our struggle against a potent terrorist enemycontinues on in Afghanistan, where our brave troops risk their lives daily forAmerica's safety now and in the future. Their extraordinary service ishonorable. We need to continue to support our brave men and women inAfghanistan as they work to root out extremism and terrorism in the mostdangerous of regions. I commend President Obama for his continued support ofthe war in Afghanistan, and I urge him toremain committed to the effort and to the future needs our troops may requirein Afghanistan and throughout the world.
