Statement From Rep. Schakowsky On A.I.G. Bonuses

Press Release

Date: March 17, 2009
Location: Washington, DC

Following recent news that the American International Group used $165 million of taxpayer's money for executive bonuses, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, released this statement expressing outrage.

"It's no wonder that my constituents are infuriated that AIG would use taxpayers dollars to pay huge executive bonuses. I applaud President Obama's efforts to stop this shameful behavior. Other companies should be on notice that Congress will not stand for this offensive gluttony while the rest of the country sacrifices to recover from the economic challenges we are facing, some of which were caused by those same executives."
