"I want to thank all of the members from both political parties for their commitment to our dairy farmers and their willingness to come together to find common-sense solutions that will benefit all Americans as we confront the crisis facing our dairy industry. I am tremendously gratified by the revival of this bipartisan working group. It will provide the opportunity for stakeholders from the dairy industry as well as representatives of political parties, dairy producers, and cooperatives, the Farm Bureau, Farmers Union and Pro-Ag a place to come together and discuss the crisis facing our family dairy farmers. We must take immediate action to offer short-term help for our struggling farmers, but we must also find long-term solutions to the instability of dairy prices. I have urged the USDA and Secretary Vilsack to do more to help our struggling dairy farmers including signing on to raise the MILC payments and I will always be fighting to secure and strengthen our dairy industry. This caucus is an important recognition of the dire circumstances facing dairy producers and it provides the farmers a strong bipartisan voice in the process. I remain committed to working with my colleagues from both parties to press for immediate relief for our farmers as we build consensus for long-term solutions," said Congressman Carney.

Representatives of the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) will join the press conference for the announcement.

Dairy farmers nationwide have suffered tremendously as milk prices have collapsed and milk production costs exceed the selling price.
