Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, senior member of the Florida Congressional Delegation, voted today to approve legislation that would demand that all AIG executives and those at other companies return their bonuses.

The legislation would demand that bonuses paid to executives whose company received taxpayer monies be returned back to the Treasury.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, "The House today took the first of many steps needed to ensure that no hard earned taxpayer money is given as executive bonuses. This legislation is that first step. The American people are outraged and rightly so. It is beyond belief that these companies would use taxpayer funds to award executives in the midst of the worst economic crisis in a generation.

My number one goal is to recoup as much taxpayer money as possible from these immoral bonuses. We must continue doing more to assure that all the bonus dollars are returned."
