Gregg Applauds Decision To Expand VA Services To NH Veterans

Press Release

Date: July 13, 2009
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) today applauded the announcement from the Department of Veterans Affairs that medical services to New Hampshire veterans will be expanded through a partnership with Concord Hospital. New Hampshire currently lacks a full-service VA medical facility. Earlier this year, Senator Gregg joined the rest of the New Hampshire Congressional Delegation to introduce bipartisan legislation (S.239) to require the VA to establish a full-service medical facility in New Hampshire, or provide access to comparable services by contracting with local health care providers. The delegation also wrote to the Secretary to Veterans Affairs regarding the importance of providing services that meet the needs of Granite State veterans. Today's VA announcement will lead to the establishment of services comparable to those provided by a full-service VA hospital.

Senator Gregg stated, "New Hampshire veterans served as courageously and honorably as any across the country, and they deserve the same high-quality medical services enjoyed by veterans in other states. The news that the VA will partner with Concord Hospital to provide expanded medical services to our State's veterans will hopefully go a long way toward providing critical health and wellness services. I welcome this announcement and will continue following the new partnership closely to help ensure that the care provided is at the same level or higher as veterans who have full-service facilities in their states."
