Rogers: Fighting To Protect Jobs

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, released the following statement today as the House Energy and Commerce Committee continued to consider amendments to the "cap and trade" legislation which will drive up unemployment as well as the prices of gasoline, electricity, and other goods and services that are crucial to our daily lives:

"Trading carbon dioxide credits on Wall Street is a big, complex government program. We know from experience that government doesn't do big and complicated very well. This measure will open the door for China and other nations to steal American jobs; and it will drive up the cost of electricity and gasoline. With our amendments, we are fighting for the people who are killing themselves to make ends meet while worrying about keeping the job they have or finding a replacement job for the one they lost."
