Once again, Memorial Day arrived, and with it, the start of the summer. I hope you and your family had a wonderful weekend.
We had our District Work Period this week and I sure kept busy.
We had an Open House and Congress on the Corner meeting at my new Augusta office. I'm so glad so many people came out. If you're in the area, and you need some help with a government agency, or you just want to visit with the staff, be sure to stop by. The address is 925 Laney Walker Boulevard in Augusta. We'd sure love to see you!
On Memorial Day, I was honored to be able to attend events in Augusta and Millen that paid tribute to the men and women who serve our country. Both were meaningful events, and I was so glad to be able to share the experience with the servicemen and servicewomen and their families from our area.
Later on in the week I was able to tour the Plant Vogtle facility and the Elba Island LNG facility. These sources of power are going to be important aspects of our new energy economy, and the facilities are, and are going to continue to employ so many folks in our area.
Finally, on Saturday we held an Energy Expo in Savannah. I was joined by community and business leaders from across Georgia who discussed energy education and economic development, and how to spend less money each month on electricity and gas. Thanks to all the participants and all the folks who stopped by.
As you can see, I had an eventful week. One of the most important jobs I have as a Congressman is to meet with folks from my district. If I didn't get a chance to visit with you this past week, I hope to do so sometime in the near future!
