"Today President Obama announced Judge Sonia Sotomayor as his choice to replace Justice Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court. A graduate of Yale and Princeton, Judge Sotomayor's breadth of professional experience as an attorney and a Jurist over the last 30 years is extensive and impressive. Combine that with her personal history as a woman of Puerto Rican descent raised in New York by hard working parents and we have a nominee with the legal knowledge and the real world experience that makes her well suited to serve effectively on the Nation's highest court. I commend the President for his choice and encourage swift confirmation by the Senate."
