Brown Honors Those Who Serve and Have Served

Statement

Date: May 21, 2009
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

With Memorial Day approaching, Congressman Henry E. Brown Jr. (R-SC), Ranking Republican on the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health, made the following statement on the importance of honoring our nation's bravest and his continued efforts to support them in Washington:

"As a constant supporter of Veterans all across the nation, my advocacy for them only increases as we approach this Memorial Day holiday weekend. As we take the time to be with family, friends and loved ones, let us all be mindful of the men and women of our country that have made the supreme sacrifice in service to our nation and it's military.

Additionally, we should continue to include in our thoughts and prayers, the women and men who are presently serving at home and throughout the world. I thank you for your patriotic duty and vow to continue to fight for full veterans and disability benefits, expanded healthcare options for rural veterans and increased veterans funding."

In fact, just this week, Congressman Brown voted in support of four pieces of veteran's legislation, H.R. 466, H.R. 1170, H.R. 1088 and H.R. 1089, that would provide support for wounded veterans, veterans seeking housing or veterans looking for specialty training or employment, respectively.

Finally, Brown voted in favor of H.Res. 360, urging all Americans and people of all nationalities to visit the national cemeteries, memorials and markers on Memorial Day.
