McIntyre Statement on the President's Immigration Reform Plan

Congressman Mike McIntyre, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement regarding the President's Immigration Reform Plan:

"The President's new plan to grant temporary residency to 8 million illegal immigrants is not fair or secure! Since September 11, our nation has worked tirelessly to strengthen its immigration system. This plan will not only jeopardize that work but could put the safety of American citizens at risk.

"Thousands of North Carolinians and millions of Americans are struggling to find work in a tough economy. They have contributed to our economy in the past and should not be shut out by people who entered this country illegally. In challenging times, we must build on our own strength rather than reward those who break the rules."

Congressman McIntyre is also a member of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Terrorism, Unconventional Threats, and Capabilities.
