Smith Selected for Rural America Solutions Group

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has tapped Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), a member of the House Agriculture Committee and co-chair of the Congressional Rural Caucus, to serve on the "Rural America Solutions Group," a new task force created to address issues facing rural America.

President Obama previously promised he would hold a summit focused on rural issues during his first 100 days but has yet to do so. Smith and other members of the Rural Caucus have recently called for the White House to establish an Office of Rural Policy.

The Rural America Solutions group's goal is to find new ways to create jobs and other opportunities for rural America.

"Rural communities need to know their voices are being heard in Washington. They face unique and difficult challenges - especially during a time of economic uncertainty. I am pleased to be part of an effort to champion rural issues and provide viable solutions," Smith said.
