Braley Announces Over $2.8 Million to Promote Energy Efficiency in the First

Today, Rep. Braley announced that over $2.8 million in energy effeciency grants will be going to cities and counties in the First District. This funding was passed as part of the Recovery Act. Washington, DC - Today, Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) announced that six communities in Eastern Iowa will receive grants totaling $2,853,900 from the Department of Energy for energy efficiency and conservation projects. This funding is from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, which provides grants for projects that reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency across the country. This funding was included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was signed into law last month.

"I'm pleased to announce over $2.8 million to help create jobs and move Iowa towards a more energy-efficient future," Braley said. "During these tough economic times, these grants will help put Iowans back to work while moving our country away from our addiction to foreign oil. Iowa communities are already receiving assistance from the Recovery Act to help boost our economy."
