Statement on Passing of Former HUD Secretary Jack Kemp

U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today issued a statement in response to learning of the passing of former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Jack Kemp.

Martinez said:

"This is a terrible loss. Jack was a good friend and a trusted mentor. I spent a great deal of time with Jack during my run for the Senate and during the recent presidential campaign. He always showed a positive attitude and led with a certainty of purpose. He and Joanne introduced me and Kitty to Washington and I will miss him greatly. Kitty and I send our prayers and condolences to Joanne and the family."
