U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) today made the following statement regarding the revised General Motors restructuring plan.
"The actions announced today once again demonstrate how serious things are for General Motors and for the entire auto industry around the globe. This revised restructuring plan will require all parties to sacrifice. It is clear that workers are doing so, as they have before, and I continue to urge bondholders to step up and do their part. Bondholders should come to the table and get a deal done.
"It is no secret that communities and workers across Michigan continue to be hit the hardest as our domestic auto industry restructures. My focus will continue to be on helping those communities, keeping as many jobs in Michigan as possible and protecting the health care and pensions of auto workers and retirees. We must support the generation of people who built the auto industry in America, and I am committed to fighting for them."U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow
