Congressman Childers' Statement on Establishment of Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area

Congressman Travis Childers (D-MS) issued the following statement regarding the establishment of the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area. This designation was included in the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009 (H.R. 146), which the President signed into law today.

"The establishment of the Mississippi Hills Region as a National Heritage Area will provide significant economic benefits for North Mississippi, and will help preserve the area's rich cultural heritage. Mississippians take great pride in their natural and cultural resources. This designation is a great honor for our state, as there are currently fewer than 40 National Heritage Areas in the United States."
