Sunday: Local Senator Gillibrand Returns Upstate to Campaign with Scott Murphy

On Sunday, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand returned to Upstate New York to campaign for local businessman and congressional candidate Scott Murphy. Joining Gillibrand and Scott Murphy were Scott's family and grassroots supporters. Visiting the Country View Diner the Sunday before Election Day has always been a tradition for Senator Gillibrand and this Sunday she continued the tradition with Scott Murphy.

"As our Representative, Senator Gillibrand worked tirelessly to lower middle class taxes for our families and small businesses, and to make government more open and accountable," said Murphy. "I could not be more thankful for the amount of support from Senator Gillibrand to our grassroots campaign and I'm thrilled she's able to be here today as we enter the homestretch. With everyone's continued help these next three days, I'll go to Washington to partner with Senator Gillibrand and President Obama to create jobs and turn our economy around."

"Scott Murphy will provide the leadership that Upstate New York needs in these challenging times," said Senator Gillibrand. "I am encouraging everyone throughout the 20th Congressional District to join me in voting for Scott this Tuesday."

For the past few weeks, the Murphy campaign has featured Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in an ad in which Senator Gillibrand asks voters to join her in supporting local businessman Scott Murphy for Congress. The ad can be viewed online on Murphy's website: http://www.scottmurphy09.com/index.asp

On Wednesday, March 25, 2009, President Barack Obama endorsed Scott Murphy for Congress. "Scott Murphy is the right candidate for Upstate New York to turn the economy around and create jobs," said President Barack Obama. "Scott has the right experience, with a record of creating real, high-paying jobs in Upstate New York. Scott Murphy will follow in the footsteps of Kirsten Gillibrand by delivering for Upstate New York, and I look forward to working with him in Congress."
