Action for Supply Industry Sends Strong Signal of Support for Auto Industry

Rep. Sander Levin issued the following statement regarding the announcement by President Obama's task force that they are establishing a program to support the automotive supply industry during this domestic downturn and global financial crisis.

"The U.S. based supply industry is vital to the survival of the domestic auto industry, and as we have discussed with the Obama Auto team, action by the federal government was urgent," said Rep. Sander Levin. "Today's action is a clear indication that the goal of the Obama Administration is the survival of a viable, restructured and future-oriented domestic auto industry.

"There are still many difficult days ahead for all of the auto stakeholders, but action for suppliers, in advance of the March 31st deadline set in the loans to GM and Chrysler, was exactly what was needed, and the task force should be commended for acting expeditiously," said Levin.
