Sen. Begich Congratulates Mackey on Iditarod Win
U.S. Sen. Mark Begich released the following statement today following Lance Mackey's third straight win of the 2009 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race:
"I congratulate Lance Mackey on his victory today in the 2009 Iditarod. Lance's story, beating cancer and going on to win the Iditarod three times and the Yukon Quest four times, is a true testament of Alaskan strength and tenacity. Today's victory cements even further his place among the Iditarod's greatest. This win makes him only the third dog musher to win three consecutive races and the sixth racer to win three races."
