Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow today made the following statement regarding the administration's proposal to create an auto advisory panel. The proposal comes only a short time after Senator Stabenow led a letter to the President urging the creation of an auto advisory group.

"I am pleased that Secretary Geithner and Larry Summers are heading a joint team to oversee the restructuring efforts of our auto industry. The announcement shows how serious the administration takes the issues facing our auto manufacturers and suppliers, and the need for a team illustrates the complexity of the challenges the industry faces.

"I look forward to working with them to ensure the viability of our manufacturing economy, and the million's of middle-class jobs it produces."— U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow
