Gov. Sanford Issues Statement on House Rules Change

Gov. Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on the House's rules change on on-the-record voting:

"These changes are a long time coming, and we'd give the House tremendous credit for taking this step toward transparency," Gov. Sanford said. "Both the House and Senate have now made a real improvement to how business is done in the Statehouse, and have in the process opened the books on their voting to the people of South Carolina. I'd in particular give credit to Representatives Haley and Ballentine for the way they've pushed on this front. While we believe this is a great step, we would encourage both bodies to continue this progress by making these changes part of permanent law as well."
