Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) today announced he has promoted Laura Muñiz to serve as the South Florida Regional Director. Ms. Muñiz will be based in the Miami district office.

"When it came time to fill the role of regional director, Laura was the natural choice," Martinez said. "As a Miami native and FIU grad, she understands the needs of our South Florida residents and has been a great asset to my team. I know Laura will continue to work hard and succeed in this new capacity."

Laura Muñiz joined the Martinez staff in 2006 as a staff assistant in the Miami district office. She served as special assist prior to her most recent role as deputy regional director. Muñiz will fill the vacancy created by the pending departure of Nilda Pedrosa, who recently announced she is joining the office of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart as his Chief of Staff.
