A Thanksgiving Message from Governor Mark Sanford

Gov. Mark Sanford today issued the following Thanksgiving message to South Carolina:

"Thanksgiving is not only a time to spend with friends and family, but it's a time to remember how fortunate we are for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans and all of our many other blessings," Gov. Sanford said. "As well, it's a time to remember that with what's going on in today's economy, there are many South Carolinians who have some very profound needs in their lives. Filling those needs starts with each of us taking just a couple of minutes out of each day to offer our time and a helping hand to those around us, and I believe that's a thought worth remembering as we head from Thanksgiving into the holiday season. In the meantime, on behalf of Jenny, the boys and me, I want to wish every South Carolinian a Happy Thanksgiving, and our sincere wishes that we all take this time to reflect and indeed give thanks."

On Sunday (Nov. 30, 2008) Gov. Sanford and his family will help kick off the Palmetto State's holiday season at the Annual Governor's Carolighting celebration. Sponsored by the Columbia Breakfast Optimist Club, the celebration will take place on the north side of the South Carolina Statehouse beginning at 6:00 p.m.
