BONO MACK STATEMENT IN REMEMBRANCE OF SEPTEMBER 11TH

In a solemn ceremony on the U.S. Capitol steps today, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) remembered the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the lives that were lost and the loved ones left behind. Today, on the seventh anniversary of 9/11, Bono Mack issued the following statement:

"September 11, 2001, is a day that will be etched in our memories forever," said Bono Mack. "As we stand on the steps of our nation's Capitol, we remember those who lost their lives and the loved ones they left behind. Today, as a nation, we keep these families in our thoughts and in our prayers.

"Out of tragedy, we saw Americans unite in patriotism, love for our country and each other. We will never forget the heroism, courage and compassion of our firefighters, police officers, service members and other first responders. Answering the call of duty, these brave individuals risked - and some even gave - their own lives to save others.

"This was a day that changed our lives forever. Today, we renew our commitment to each other and to protecting our country against its enemies. We honor those who sacrificed their lives, and we recognize those who continue to stand on the front lines protecting our freedoms and the values we hold dear. We owe them our deepest respect and gratitude for all they do in service to our great country."
