Congresswoman Musgrave Returns to Fight for Lower Gas Prices

Joins with colleagues on darkened house floor to urge energy vote

Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave today released the following statement regarding her stand, along with GOP colleagues, against Speaker Pelosi's decision to recess Congress without voting on legislation that would allow greater exploration for domestic sources of energy.

"I was back to speak on the House floor today because our work in Congress simply isn't done. There are too many people in my district that are depending on us. Parents trying to afford school supplies, school districts trying to afford fuel for buses and seniors on fixed incomes trying to survive; these are the people that I am back to fight for," said Musgrave.

"House Republicans are here and we are telling the Speaker to come back from her book tour and give us an up or down vote on a comprehensive energy policy that will make us energy independent. Americans across the country can't afford the policies of this ‘Drill Nothing, Do Nothing Congress'. We must fight as hard for the working families across the country as the Democrats are obviously fighting to protect the extreme environmentalists like Defenders of Wildlife and the Sierra Club."

Congresswoman Musgrave will be on the House floor tomorrow to continue speaking about the importance of a comprehensive energy policy.
