CONGRESSMAN DAVIS REACTS TO NEWS OF THE SUDDEN DEATH OF CONGRESSWOMAN TUBBS JONES

Congressman Artur Davis issued the following statement after learning of the sudden death of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones (OH-11):

"I have yet to meet anyone who is more passionate about public life and the best values in our politics than Stephanie Tubbs Jones. I served with her on the Ways and Means committee for two years and I have seen and heard that passion delivered in her own unique way on countless issues. The economically vulnerable and those who suffer in our society have lost a champion. I will miss her energy and her friendship."

Congresswoman Tubbs Jones passed away this evening after suffering a cerebral aneurysm last night. She was the first African-American woman elected to the Congress from Ohio and the first African-American woman to serve on the powerful Ways & Means Committee.
