Governor Bobby Jindal Declares Tuesday Veterans Day

Today, Governor Bobby Jindal issued an executive proclamation officially declaring tomorrow, November 11, 2008, as Veterans Day in Louisiana.

Veterans Day Executive Proclamation:

WHEREAS, on Veterans Day, we pay tribute to the service and sacrifices of the men and women who in the defense of our freedom have bravely worn the uniform of the United States; and

WHEREAS, veterans have fought around the world to preserve our freedom; and

WHEREAS, our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their quiet courage and exemplary service; and

WHEREAS, we remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom's defense; and

WHEREAS, Louisiana has 26,921 citizens currently serving in our nation's armed forces; and

WHEREAS, Louisiana has 325,992 veterans who have served the United States of America in our armed forces.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bobby Jindal, Governor of the State of Louisiana, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2008 as VETERANS DAY in the State of Louisiana.
