LANKFORD UNLEASHES "WATCHDOG" AD

Republican Congressional candidate Monty Lankford unleashed his latest radio ad today, hammering Democratic incumbent Lincoln Davis for his failure to do anything to prevent the housing credit crisis, while serving on the Financial Services Committee.

Lankford's ad features two Tennesseans discussing the failure of Congressional watchdogs on the Financial Services Committee who did nothing to avert the crisis. That committee oversees the banking industry and has direct oversight over the two quasie-governmental loan institutions, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which started the nation's financial meltdown.

The "Watchdog" ad hammers Davis for "looking the other way while Wall Street went wild" and for taking $480,000 from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and numerous banking, realtor and other financial interests.

"The bottom line is that guys like Barney Frank and Lincoln Davis failed to do their job, failed to act and contributed to this disaster," said Lankford. "Leaving these irresponsible people in charge of the bailout and buyout is like turning a fox loose in the hen house."

Lankford, a life-long Tennessean and local businessman in Franklin, paid his way through Free Will Baptist Bible College with a welding job. Lankford will face Davis in the general election on November 4th.

Watchdog Ad

Anncr1: Hey Fred, in your opinion, what's the best kind of watchdog?

Anncr2: You mean like a hound dog?

Anncr1: No, a WATCH dog….watching your money! The best kind of watchdog is one that will raise a racket when somebody starts to make off with your money.

SFX: Arooof, roof, roof.

Anncr1: Like that

Anncr2: We could have used one of those in Congress.

FX: arrooooooof

Anncr1: We sent Lincoln Davis up there to watch our money, but he isn't much of a watchdog.

Anncr2: How's that?

Anncr1: Well Lincoln Davis sits on the Financial Services Committee…where he's supposed to be watching the banks and groups like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac…

Anncr2: The big home mortgage people who got us into this mess?

Anncr1: Yep.

Anncr2: Lincoln Davis and the committee looked the other way...while Wall Street went wild. Our watchdog was asleep!

SFX: Dog snoring.

Anncr2: But Lincoln Davis sure did enjoy being on the Financial Services Committee. He took 480,000 from New York banks, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack and the lobbyists.

Anncr1: Some kind of watchdog.

SFX: Dog whine.

Monty: If you want to change Congress, Change your Congressman. I'm Monty Lankford and I approved this message.
